Park reference — What It Means in Ham Radio

Park reference — The code that identifies a POTA park.

In March 2024 POTA re-prefixed every US park from K- to US-, keeping the same number — K-4297 became US-4297. Territories got their own prefixes: PR- Puerto Rico, VI- Virgin Islands, GU- Guam, AS- American Samoa, MP- Mariana Islands, UM- Minor Outlying Islands. A lot of videos and printed guides still show the old K- format.

How you would hear it

"This is US-4297, Brazos Bend State Park."
